Being a dog pawrent, I mean parent, is a big job. Getting a new dog with your partner is one of the most exciting events that could happen during your relationship. Have you ever thought about your dog becoming your number priority instead of your partner? It's easy to say that a cute little puppy won't put a strain on your day to day life, but it's a challenge. My dog is one of the best things that has ever happened to me, but she's a priority in my dating life. 

If a guy I'm seeing doesn't have a love for dogs and isn't willing to try, that's a dealbreaker. If my date wants to stay out for 5+ hours at dinner and a concert, I need to plan a dog sitter or dog walker. It can definitely be done, but dating with a dog isn't as easy as you might think. Don't even get me started about whether you should allow your dog to share a bed with you. Once you start, you definitely won't have room for a new addition. 

On the flip side, dogs can definitely be great conversation starters, especially on dating apps. Who doesn't love a cute dog mom or dad snuggled up with their pup. It's the ideal way to be up front that you have a pet that comes first, a lot of the time. And let's be honest, neither you or your dog would have it any other way.
